Favorite Miss Chinese Vancouver
Linda Chung. (MCVP 2003 Champion) My dance academy was invited to perform at the 2003 MCVP finale when Linda Chung was a contestant. I vividly remember her outstanding, graceful and elegant performance. This was a very memorable experience for me, as I was 13 and watching the pageant live. I am proud of Linda for representing Vancouver and winning the Miss Chinese International pageant
Which bodily parts are you most satisfied with
Mouth. I love to smile because it’s an international language of kindness and love. Smiles are contagious and I love to share my happiness
Do you have any expectations towards the pageant
As it is such a unique opportunity, I want to fully enjoy the experience to learn more about what I am capable of. I expect myself to present only the best to my family, friends, and audience
What areas do you want to better yourself
I would like to better myself by learning to be less nervous. Although I have performed countless times in front of hundreds of people, I am always extremely nervous before stepping on stage. Through this pageant, I hope to challenge myself to be confident and present my best to the audiences
Reasons for joining the pageant
Ever since I was little, I have always loved performing and being on stage. I believe in sharing my passion with audiences and people around me. The pageant provides me with a bigger stage on which I am able to reach even more people and hopefully bring joy to numerous lives. As many female figures have greatly influenced me and shaped who I am, I also hope to become a role model to young girls across Vancouver who share the same passions and dreams
What do you think is the most beautiful object or incident in the world
Newborn babies. Because they are pure and innocent. Whenever people see newborns, they can’t help but to smile, as they are brand new to the world, full of hope and happiness
Who is your female role model
My mother. Because she always provides me with the inspiration to push myself to my limit, but at the same time recognize who I am, while also bringing out the best in everyone. To me, she is the most beautiful woman I have ever known, inside and out, not only because of her dedication to my family, but also because she carries herself so gracefully through various situations, and has taught me to be kind and generous to everyone
Why do you think you will excel at this Pageant and be crowned Miss Chinese Vancouver
I believe my one-of-a-kind upbringing has made me a unique contestant in this Pageant. Being born and growing up in Vancouver has allowed me to come to love the innate beauty of the city that I am proud to call home. At the same time being raised in a traditional household has shaped me to embrace my Chinese culture. I think Miss Chinese Vancouver is the epitome of the beautiful amalgamation of the two concepts, and I would love to be its representative
If you won this contest, how, as Miss Chinese Vancouver, would you contribute to the society and the world
I began to help fundraise for Children’s Hospital since I was 6 years old. At York House School, I was the Community Service Captain. Throughout the year, I participate in numerous community events and strongly believe that having a healthy body, mind, and soul, is the key to our well-being. We all know that money cannot buy health. With a healthy body, we will be able to enjoy life to its fullest potential. As Miss Chinese Vancouver, I will actively promote the importance of healthy living
This year is Fairchild Television 20th Anniversary, what would you choose as a gift to celebrate
I would choose the gift of civil service. I would organize and host a charity event on behalf of Fairchild Television to raise awareness for a wide array of causes in our society
